
FAE Goals
The Foundation for Academic Endeavors (FAE) creates opportunities for academic growth for low-income families with an emphasis on building leadership and community partnerships. The FAE Summer Academy is held in Mount Vernon Washington.. The program serves 220 preschool through high school students providing summer literacy, enrichment and STEM instruction in a creative and collaborative manner. FAE hires experienced teachers and college fellows to assist in every classroom.
We are looking for dynamic college students fellows studying education, science, technology, engineering or math with a heart to serve a diverse community of learners and their families. For more information on FAE go to www.skagitfae.org
Program Dates:
July 6, 2022 - August 5, 2022
Mon-Thurs 7:30 am to 3:30 pm
Note:*we will meet two Fridays this year on July 8th and August 5th
(Student Day 9:00am – 3:00pm)
Required Zoom Curriculum and Planning Dates:
20 hours of training in May and June 2022 (Because most teachers are still teaching in May and June, our meetings will be in the evenings at mutually agreeable times)
All Staff Meetings will be every other week beginning May 5th from 6:00-7:00pm (6 hours)
Cohort Meetings will be every other week beginning the week of May 9th at mutually agreed upon time. (6 hours)
Teacher/ Fellow Meetings will be agreed upon by each team the week of May 5th at mutually agreed upon time. (8 hours)

Responsibilities and Duties

Reports to the Directors of Foundation for Academic Endeavors (FAE)

Assist classroom teachers in implementing and preparing daily lesson plans
-
In cooperation with teachers and volunteers will supervise meals
-
Build classroom community and leadership skills of students.

Assist during specialized activities such as meals, PE, Art, book fairs
-
Act as mentors for younger volunteers.

Attend staff meetings

Attend child abuse awareness and prevention education, (certificates are valid for 3 years)

Attend and participate in mandatory training days

Submit to criminal background check
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
-
Current or recent (within one year) college student in Education or STEM discipline
-
One year of experience or volunteer work in education or childcare
Preferred Qualification
-
Bilingual English-Spanish desired
-
Exhibit competency and experience working in a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, gender/sexuality, and ethnic backgrounds and identities.

Ability to use a personal computer, Microsoft Office products and database programs.

Excellent verbal, listening, writing, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
Salary and Appointment
Job Type: Part-time, temporary
Salary: $2,450 - $3,275 Depending on Experience
